Horihan Insurance, a division of Linda Horihan Inc., is an independent insurance agency serving Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. The agency specializes in insurance products for farms, small businesses, group and individual health, as well as personal home and auto.

Its founder, Linda Horihan, started in the insurance business in 1988 with Farm Bureau in Preston, MN. A number of years later, Linda decided to become an independent agent and launched a business of her own called Linda Horihan Agency in Rushford, MN. Her dedication to prompt, professional customer service earned her top recognition in the local insurance arena. Sadly, Linda passed away in 2005 when she lost her battle with breast cancer.

Linda’s son Creighton Horihan joined the agency in 2002. He has an extensive background in the agricultural industry and is co-owner of North Prairie Farms, a row-crop farm located in Lanesboro, MN. Creighton continues to serve many of the clients that his mother Linda served and is focused on continuing to grow the business.

That growth began when Linda Horihan Agency opened its first branch office in Rochester, MN in 2006.

A second branch office was opened in Winona, MN in 2008 with the addition of the Ringler Agency business. The previous owner, Duane Ringler, started his career with Sentry Insurance in 1958 and began his own agency, Ringler Insurance, in 1976. Duane continued to work for Linda Horihan Agency until 2013 when he retired.

In 2008, Linda’s son Charles Horihan joined the agency after attending South Dakota State University where he received a degree in agriculture. Charles is also a co-owner of North Prairie Farms, a row-crop farm located in Lanesboro, MN.

In 2009, the Minnesota Garot Christman Agency in Rochester, MN was added and Linda Horihan Agency’s Rochester branch office relocated to combine with this agency. Rod Woxland had operated this agency in the Rochester area since the 1950’s and continues to work with Linda Horihan Agency.

Due to the purchase of Lyle’s Flooring America in Minnesota City, MN in 2013, the Winona branch office was relocated from its original location on West 5th Street in Winona to share space with them in Minnesota City.

Linda Horihan Agency added a Lewiston, MN location in 2014 with the addition of Area Insurance, an independent agency offering a variety of insurance products.  The agency was originally started by Perry Larson in 1983 and called Perry Larson Insurance Agency.  Perry worked for the agency until it was sold and the name was changed to Area Insurance Center.  The new owners worked at the agency until 2014 when it became a part of the Linda Horihan Agency.  They have since retired and the name updated to Horihan Insurance also.

In 2016, Linda Horihan Agency changed its name to Horihan Insurance. It also moved its Winona location to 123 County Road 32, Minnesota City, MN.

Spring of 2017, Horihan Insurance opened an office in Lanesboro, MN where both owners Creighton and Charles work on an appointment basis.

The newest addition to the Horihan locations in 2019 is the Mabel, MN office. Located right on main street our new presence there is office to our agent Jim Peterson.

The agency now has 6 locations and a staff who continue to provide prompt, professional customer service with the same dedication as our founder, Linda Horihan.
