Let’s Get You Started

Normally when you make an appointment to get an insurance quote with a Horihan Insurance agent, all you need is a copy of your current policy so we can determine the areas where there is room for improvement, or ways we can save you money. But not all the information needed to quote a commercial policy is always readily available. So we’ve put together a handy guide for your convenience. It is not imperative that you have all of this when you meet with your agent, but it helps to have as much of it as possible. And we always aim to make the process as hassle-free as we can.

We will, of course, need your contact information. Your name, the name of your business, phone number, address, and email if possible. You should be able to provide your Federal Employer Identification Number (FEID) also known as your federal tax identification number. That should be on your most recent tax return.

We’ll need to know what type of company it is (corporation, LLC, etc.), how long you’ve been in business, and a brief description of the type of work you do or the products and services you provide, the number of part-time and full-time employees (especially if you’re looking at group medical/life coverage), as well as your gross annual payroll and revenue.

Then, back to the task of building on, improving upon, or streamlining your current policy, know what type of policy you are looking for vs. what you currently have, the name(s) of your current insurance companies, the expiration dates of the current policies, the premiums, deductibles, and limits on them.

Lastly, for commercial auto coverage, you will need to provide year, make and model, along with the VIN numbers of all commercial vehicles to be covered. As for the drivers of said vehicles, you’ll need to provide dates of birth of each of those employees along with their driver’s license numbers.

This might feel like a hefty checklist, we know. But having all this information on hand will speed up the process in the long run. And for us that is what is most important – to make sure you have no delays, gaps, or lapses in your coverage so you can carry on with business as usual.

So all there is for you to do is check off all of the above, give us a call at your nearest Horihan Insurance office, and we’ll get down to business (insurance).
